Tricky Words
Tricky words are words that cannot be read or written using phonics. They are sight words that we have to learn by memorising them. In this section you will see a video of Machen practising their tricky words. You will also find a PowerPoint presentation that you can use to practise tricky words at home.
The tricky words are split into phases, work your way through each phase or ask the class teacher which phase your child is working on.
As well as reading the words you can practise spelling them. Use the handwriting section of the learning zone for help with letter formation.

When using the PowerPoint below, choose your phase then click the magician's hat to make each word appear. You might want to make it more fun by playing some music in the background. We like to use Black Lace - Superman, the beat works perfectly!
